The Sword in the Stone | 1/1 First Edition Leather Rebinding
Recovered from the older shelves of the vault: a first edition copy of The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White, rebound by hand into a singular Arthurian relic binding.
This is a true 1/1 edition. No second copy exists with this binding, finish, structure, aging, or tooling.
The original vintage book remains at the heart of the piece. The volume was rebound over the existing text block, preserving the original pages, structure, and endpapers while replacing the exterior with a hand-finished leather binding shaped around the mythology of Merlin, the hidden king, and the old roads leading toward Camelot.
The spine remains in great shape.
The pages remain in excellent condition.
The hinge is in good condition and the book opens comfortably for reading.
Original endpapers remain intact.
During the rebinding process, the original cover was carefully removed and preserved as the included blue bookmark, carrying the iconic sword-in-the-stone emblem in gold.
The first edition at the heart of this piece came from StairsToThePast on Etsy, a shop devoted to rare, antique, and collectible books. Every volume is chosen with care and sent on towards the reader who will love it most.
The exterior carries layered distressing, aged dye work, raised structure, and hand-finished detail throughout the boards and spine. The binding was completed as a singular artifact rather than a replicated edition.
No molds were taken.
No production line exists for this piece.
No second copy will emerge later under a different listing.
This is the only one.
